and its Group companies ("Olympus" or "the Group) have led the industry in developing various products based on optical technology. Olympus creates such groundbreaking products as digital cameras, which boast an overwhelming share of the market, through Opto-Digital Technology, a fusion of optical and advanced digital technologies. Olympus maintains excellence in all three of its product group: the Imaging product group, which includes digital cameras, cameras, and microcassette tape recorders; the Medical product group, which offers medical endoscopes that lead the world market, clinical analyzers and other advanced medical equipment, as well as industrial endoscopes and other inspection instruments; and the Integrated System and Information product group, comprising microscope and measuring equipment, as well as printers, barcode data processing devices, magneto-optical disk drives and other information peripheral products. While uniting diverse technologies, the Group will continue to provide technology and products that offer new value in the daily lives of people worldwide.

Olympus started its marketing activity for the Endoscopes business in this region from 1975 as a representative office, located in Singapore. In order to serve our customers better, the representative office was incorporated into a legal registered company in 1989, known as Olympus Singapore Pte. Ltd. Since then, we are continuously improving and expanding our services to cover three of our major business areas, namely the Consumer Products in the Imaging and Audio area, the Medical and the Industrial Equipment. In 1996, we established our first representative office in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, supporting our medical business. Following in 1999, Olympus (Thailand) Co. Ltd., was set up to serve our Thailand Endoscopes customer more closely in Thailand. In 2001, another regional subsidiary, Olympus (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., was set up to serve our Imaging and Audio product customer directly. Over the years, Olympus Singapore Pte Ltd. has grown just for the reason for providing better service and products that is in line of our group business mission, Focus on Life.
